Indian general election in Andhra Pradesh, 1999
The Indian general election, 1999 polls in Andhra Pradesh were held for 42 seats in the state. The result was a landslide victory for the National Democratic Alliance and its ally Telugu Desam Party which won 36 out of 42 seats. The popularity of Chandrababu Naidu and the unpopularity of Congress in the state, allowed for a landslide victory for BJP-TDP alliance. Even though TDP was not officially part of the NDA, TDP provided outside support to Atal Behari Vajpayee and the NDA.
